Public education in Illinois is in crisis:

• Roughly 80% of school districts statewide are deficit spending;
• Over 1,600 schools failed to meet the adequate yearly progress requirements of the federal No Child Left Behind Act; and
• Illinois has the most inequitable education funding system in the country, where per pupil spending ranges from a high of over $18,000 to a low of less than $5,000. 

Children are being shortchanged on a quality education, local homeowners are being overwhelmed by skyrocketing property taxes and the public services families rely on are threatened by spending cuts year after year.  The time for change is now!
